The Tompkins County Legislature unanimously approved Resolution O on Oct. 15, appointing Khorsa Acumfi as the county administrator. The vote followed brief discussion about the personnel process; the body declined to enter executive session and proceeded to a roll call vote that passed without opposition.
After the vote, Acumfi addressed the legislature and public, saying, "I'm very excited to be here. It is a great honor ... I'm happy to be here finally. I'm happy to work with the team." The chair announced Acumfi’s official start date as January 6, 2025.
Members thanked staff and committee volunteers who participated in the recruitment, and the chair added appreciation for "all the staff and legislators that put in many, many hours to get us to that point." The appointment is now official and will transition to onboarding and operational planning ahead of the January start date.
