Carneys Point adopts floodplain ordinance to meet State DEP deadline

Engineer S. Cosaboon told the Committee the adoption is time-sensitive: "it has to be completed and sent to the State by October 25th. I will have it there before that date," he said. The ordinance was introduced earlier and reviewed by the Planning Board prior to final adoption. Committee member Pelura moved to adopt Ordinance 1062; Mrs. Shaw seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
The ordinance revises sections of the township code dealing with floodplain administration and includes standard severability and effective-date language. Officials flagged the DEP deadline as the immediate next step; no member requested additional study prior to the adoption. The measure places responsibility for floodplain administration with the Construction Code Official, clarifying which municipal official will handle permits and compliance going forward.
