Carneys Point approves recreation upgrades and $76,000 recreation grant for Dunns Park

Carneys Point Township Committee approved a package of recreation improvements and funding at its Aug. 21 meeting, including a $76,000 Local Recreation Improvement Grant to support upgrades at Dunns Park and other recreation assets. Committee member Shaw outlined a calendar of community events — a Foam Party at Dunns Park on Sept. 7, a Community Yard Sale Sept. 14–15 and an upcoming family movie night — and said the Recreation Commission organized a successful National Night Out on Aug. 6.
Shaw told the committee the township has secured DEP approval for a Mosquito Control project at the Recreation Complex and that "This project is at a cost of $100,000." Engineer S. Cosaboon and Administrator T. Pine are coordinating Recreation Phase II work; the committee approved an Alaimo Group proposal for bus shelter and drainage engineering services totaling $274,910.40. The Committee also approved a $2,500 implementation authorization through the NJDCA Local Recreation Improvement Grant program for lighting improvements at Dunns Park.
