District will defer Building 1 concrete to prioritize Building 2 safety work, staff says

District facilities staff recommended postponing concrete work for Building 1 and prioritizing concrete behind Building 2 because the latter area poses greater safety risk.
"My recommendation would be removing the concrete from building 1," Mr. Moore said, explaining that eliminating that item would bring the hardscape project into budget and avoid an additional $1,300 expense. He said Building 2's area "is the most, there's a lot more dirt" and described slipping and fall hazards near the library as the primary concern.
Board members agreed to defer Building 1 work for now and to keep Building 2 work on the list for the coming summer. Staff said deferring Building 1 will allow the district to reallocate remaining funds saved from other line items and proceed with higher-priority safety repairs.
