Board reviews prioritized summer facilities list, flags Little Owls and classroom needs

District facilities staff reviewed a prioritized list of summer projects for 2025 and 2026 and recommended moving forward with several high-priority items while holding off on shade structures pending principal input.
"Little Owls carpet replacements would be a number 1 due to... we wanna get that done and either to open in a couple more new classrooms," Mr. Moore said while outlining the priority ranking. He identified Little Owls furniture at approximately $50,000 and listed asphalt repairs for Vazquez High School and Meadowlark Elementary among the top projects. Staff reported an available savings of $42,499 from a contractor recommendation.
Staff asked the board to remove shade-structure purchases for Little Owls from the immediate package so the new principal can assess need; the board agreed to defer those shade structures and to present the three-page summer project packet (minus shade structures) at the June meeting for board approval. The presentation also flagged transportation and district office adjustments needed to ready space for two additional classrooms.
Board members asked questions about which parking lots and playgrounds were affected and the director of facilities confirmed ACPI had submitted the lower bid on the hardscape work. Staff said the full list and pictures of the proposed structures would be provided at the next meeting.
