County staff presented a proposed SWAT differential policy to provide $3 per hour to SWAT team members for training and callouts and a resolution to increase the county's URS Tier 2 public-safety pickup rate for law enforcement and firefighters.
Jenica Stender, who presented the policy, described the SWAT differential as compensation for "all of the additional skills and requirements that they need to be able to be on that team," and said the policy would cover both training and callouts. She told the commission the effective date for the differential pay is July 1.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 26-19, shifting the county pickup for Tier 2 public-safety retirement contributions from 4.73% to the proposed 5.98% recommended by the Utah Retirement System. The measures were approved by voice vote.
