Commissioners say they were notified late; MIDA apologizes and pledges transparency

Hillary Venable apologized for the missed notification and said MIDA learned about the project in mid‑February and had since conducted due diligence; she attributed some of the late outreach to competitive time pressures and promised more town halls, public fact sheets and continued communication with county staff and legal counsel. "We apologize and know that that is not the Midway. We want full transparency, and I apologize," Venable said.
Commissioners pressed for enforceable language in agreements and for public disclosure of the impact studies and master plan; MIDA said those documents will be part of the development review process and will be publicized as required.
