Public Works staff presented drawings and two bids for repairs to five catch basins and recommended awarding the work to the low bidder. The staff packet showed Kieklee Underground at $37,500 for five repairs and a lower bid (client/Klein) for about $27,528 for the same work.
Public Works staff said most of the cost would come from the storm-sewer budget and acknowledged that the repairs “will fry that budget for the year.” Council members asked about scope and timing; staff said the contractor could begin locating and completing work in roughly two weeks, weather permitting. A motion to approve the low bid for $27,528 was made and recorded as passing 5-0.
Council members emphasized practical trade-offs of carrying out needed storm-sewer repairs midyear while monitoring remaining capital funds. Staff will coordinate marking and locating utilities before construction begins and will report back as the work proceeds.
