The City of Montrose council on May 12 voted 5-0 to accept the 2024 independent audit presented by Abdo.
Andy Berg of Abdo summarized the firm's findings, telling the council, “We issue our independent audit report.” He said the firm issued a clean (best) opinion but identified “a few internal control deficiencies” and one legal compliance finding, and encouraged council oversight of city finances through the year. After brief questions, Council moved and approved acceptance of the audit so it can be published and distributed.
The acceptance clears the formal auditing step for the 2024 financials; Berg also reviewed general fund activity, enterprise funds and multi-year cash flow and KPI comparisons with similar cities. Council members emphasized continued attention to internal controls and ongoing financial oversight as the city proceeds into budget planning.
