Council accepts donations for fire department, hears May activity report

The City of Montrose council on June 9 accepted two donations for the Montrose Fire Department and reviewed the department’s May activity report.
A fire department representative told the council that “32 calls throughout the month” and that the department is at “151 calls at the end of May,” up 43 calls from last year. The council accepted Resolution 2025-11, a $2,500 gift from Graceful Giving “to be used for medical supplies and equipment,” and Resolution 2025-12, a $6,164.50 donation from the Montrose Fire Relief Association toward a new trailer. Both resolutions were moved and approved by recorded voice (motions recorded as passing 5-0 in the meeting transcript).
The fire representative acknowledged mutual-aid assistance from Waverly and Delano fire departments, named local staff who passed apparatus operator certification, and listed small in-kind donations, including five used office chairs. Council members did not seek additional discussion and the measures moved quickly through the consent/motion process.
The council’s acceptance of the donations authorizes the fire department to use the funding for medical supplies, equipment and trailer acquisition; staff noted the trailer is in hand and being prepared for service.
