The board approved a settlement agreement addressing three bus‑aid positions that had been difficult to staff and authorized those classified positions to be permanently held as listed. Trustees also approved a memorandum of understanding with the bargaining unit (CSCA chapter) that extends through Dec. 31, 2026, describes priorities for offering trips to bargaining‑unit members, sets expectations for taking unsafe buses out of service and compensating members when trips were previously contracted out, and allows contracting out only when trips exceed the number of operable buses.
A separate MOU clarifying mechanic duties and permitting contracting out for services the CSCA unit cannot perform also passed. In personnel business, the superintendent announced the hire of Dr. Peter Palacios as a dual‑language Spanish teacher, recognized long‑time Meadowlark teacher Gabby Shydig on her retirement, and introduced Mayela Salcedo as the incoming chief business officer pending approval of the personnel action; the board approved the personnel report by voice vote.
