The Acton‑Agua Dulce Unified School District board approved a memorandum of agreement with the U.S. Air Force to begin an Air Force JROTC program at Vasquez High School in fall 2026.
"Yet another signature program and opportunity for our students will be arriving at Vasquez, through the Air Force JROTC program to kick off in the fall of 20 26," Superintendent Dr. Sahakian said, presenting the MOA and describing a recent campus walkthrough. Dr. Sahakian told trustees the agreement anticipates two instructors and a cost‑share between the Air Force and the district for instructor support.
Dr. Sahakian said the district and Vasquez counselors are compiling an interest list and that staff (including Principal Dr. Reina Smith and district counselors) are preparing classroom and storage space to support the program. Trustees responded positively, noting the program is open to students in grades 9–12 and describing it as a new career and leadership opportunity.
The board moved and voted to approve the MOA during the meeting; trustees expressed enthusiasm for the added curricular option and asked staff to coordinate student interest and logistics ahead of the fall launch.
