Neodesha commissioners approve ordinance to raze unsafe structure at 1011 Carolina Street

The Board of Commissioners of the City of Neodesha approved Ordinance No. 1829 on Jan. 14, 2026, authorizing the removal of a structure at 1011 Carolina Street after finding it unsafe and dangerous.
The ordinance describes the property as Lots Six (6) through Nine (9), Block Three (3), S.J. Shutt’s Addition, and directs the enforcing officer to cause the dwelling to be razed and removed, to invite bids or negotiate a contract, or to use city employees. It authorizes financing the cost of removal by sale of salvage, from the general fund, and by levying special assessments against the lots if salvage proceeds are insufficient. Section 4 makes the ordinance effective upon publication in the official city newspaper.
Administrator Jones presented the ordinance and Commissioner Banzet moved to approve it; the motion was seconded by Mayor Devin Johnson and recorded as carried 2–0 while Commissioner Truelove was not yet present. The record does not show additional discussion or amendments to the ordinance text.
The ordinance and its financing provisions will be published as required and the city will maintain an account of removal costs and any salvage receipts.
