Parks and Recreation Director Beverly Tucker Knight told the council the department recommends Challenger Sportswear for the 2026 youth soccer uniform order and asked for authorization to spend up to $15,078. She described the uniform set (numbered jerseys with the Olivette logo, matching socks and coach shirts), said the vendor groups shirts by team to streamline distribution and noted last year's registration totaled about 1,200 players (including some teams from neighboring municipalities).
Council members asked whether vendors could be contracted for multi-year bids to lock prices; Knight said the department could request multi-year terms in future solicitations but cautioned inflation and supply volatility (many shirts are sourced from China) could make multi-year pricing challenging. On motion, the council authorized the purchase not to exceed $15,078 from Challenger Sportswear and staff will proceed with the order and distribution preparations ahead of the season.
