Council approves resolution to seek county grant for Great Olivette Clean Out on Sept. 30

The council approved Resolution 2026-267 authorizing the city manager to sign and execute grant documents to apply for and accept St. Louis County municipal waste-reduction funds for the Great Olivette Clean Out event. Chief Beth Andreske said the event will be Sept. 30, 2026, from 3 to 6 p.m., and will provide electronic recycling and paper shredding for residents; the grant would reimburse the city for vendor costs and staff wages.
Andreske explained the grant request covers reimbursement to hire Shred Company and an electronics-recycling vendor and to compensate staff time during the event. She also explained the event was moved to 5 Oaks this year (it had been at Stacy Park in prior years) because attendance grew and traffic concerns made 5 Oaks a better location. On motion, the council authorized the city manager to sign and execute contract documents if the county awards reimbursement funds.
