Colfax police receive $25,000 CJTC grant; department readies new patrol cars

Police Chief Michael Melcher told the Colfax City Council on July 6 that the department received $25,000 in grant funds from CJTC and plans to use that money to replace department tasers.
Melcher said the department is outfitting two new patrol cars and has placed new decals on all vehicles. He also reported that Ivan Martinez is doing well in the police academy. The chief provided recent activity statistics: 43 calls for service, 25 traffic stops, four criminal citations, nine infractions and two active child abuse cases.
