The Rio School District board approved several personnel and labor-related items at its Dec. 17 meeting, including confidential job descriptions and revised classified management/confidential salary schedules.
Each personnel motion passed with four votes in favor and one dissent from Trustee Emmanuel Mejia. The board also ratified a September 2025 memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the California School Employees Association (CSEA) by the same 4-1 margin, and voted 4-1 to dissolve the Facilities Subcommittee. The motions were moved and seconded by trustees as recorded in the minutes.
Trustee Mejia was the sole recorded no vote on these items; the board did not elaborate in the public transcript on the reasons for the dissent. The items were recorded as final resolutions in the meeting minutes.
