Rio School District board certifies Final SEIR for Rio Del Valle expansion

The Rio School District Board of Trustees voted Oct. 15 to certify the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) for the Rio Del Valle Existing Campus Expansion Masterplan.
President Kristine Anderson opened a public hearing on the SEIR and noted written comments from the City of Oxnard received Oct. 13 and the district's responsive comments on Oct. 15. “Now was the time designated to receive comments from the public regarding the Supplemental Environmental Impact Report prepared for the Rio Del Valle Expansion Project,” Anderson said before the board closed the hearing after hearing no public testimony.
After brief discussion, Anderson moved to certify the Final SEIR and Felix Eisenhauer seconded the motion. The resolution (25/26-1) passed unanimously, with Anderson, Eisenhauer, Alesia Martin and Emmanuel Mejia voting in favor. The board also approved minor changes to the project as reflected in the revised environmental review.
The district noted that written comments from the City of Oxnard and the district's responses will be included in the official record and are available on request. The approval clears the environmental-review step required by the California Environmental Quality Act for the RDV expansion; subsequent project approvals and construction steps were not decided at this meeting.
