Emergency operations center reports heavy rain, downed trees and localized outages

Tom Dunn, the town's emergency manager, told the council the Emergency Operations Center opened the morning before the meeting and is fully functioning. "As you can see, we're in the emergency operation center. We've been open and fully functioning since yesterday morning," he said.
Dunn outlined the incident summary: fire rescue responded to about 15 downed trees and one incident involving a structure; Palmetto Electric reported roughly 5,700 customers without power overnight with crews restoring service and about 200 customers still without power at 08:30. He said fire rescue had increased staffing and placed three boat and cut crews into the field.
On rainfall and stormwater, Dunn said the town's gauges showed "we're we're about 10 inches roughly in in rainfall over the last 24 hours based on our gauges." He added stormwater staff were lowering lagoons, monitoring pumps, cleaning drains and coordinating with partners to ensure capacity for additional water.
Town officials said crews remain deployed and are monitoring power restoration and drainage systems; the town encouraged residents to report flooded areas through official channels so crews can respond.
