Comal County Commissioners approved a proclamation designating Dec. 4, 2024, as Tree of Angels Day to recognize and support victims of violent crime and their families. The proclamation cites the work of People Against Violent Crime and encourages citizens to support victim services.
Commissioner Hogg moved to approve the proclamation after a staff member read its text. Organizers invited the public to the Tree of Angels ceremony at the McKenna Event Center Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m., where families can place ornaments on a memorial tree. "Friends and families and loved ones of victims of violent crime are able to come and put an ornament on the tree for in memory of their loved ones," the organizer said.
The court carried the proclamation by voice vote and thanked staff and volunteers.
