Resident urges review of change orders, cites $18,226 in adjustment fees

During the Citizens Comments portion of the Dec. 12 meeting, Bob Moore, a resident of the Veramendi subdivision, asked the court to review multiple change orders tied to a contract from October 2023. Moore said he reviewed change orders Nos. 3–6 from George's Construction Company and calculated that the 10% adjustment fee across the four documents "came up to a total of over of $18,226.58." He also cited a separate proposal from Via Railings where a 15% adjustment produced an additional savings of "$281.16." Moore said he felt the fees were "a little bit out of line" and wanted the matter brought to the court's attention.
In a later discussion during the action agenda, a county official clarified the county is only holding the bond related to that project and "there's no fees to... out of our pocket," saying the adjustment fees Moore referenced were not charged to Comal County. The exchange prompted no formal action beyond the clarification; the court did not commit to altering the contracts at that time.
