The court’s proclamation recounts that Comal Conservation (formerly Comal County Conservation Alliance) created the award to honor Jensy Madden, a founding member, and that Collier’s efforts helped ensure 535 acres of El Rancho Cima will be preserved in perpetuity through collaboration with Hays County and The Nature Conservancy. The proclamation invited residents to recognize Collier at a Comal Conservation fundraiser Oct. 26.
Accepting the recognition, Collier described the emotional and practical work of rallying neighbors and supporters. She told the court she felt called to act when the property was listed and recalled personal and community contributions: “I walked into his office and I said, honey, we have to raise $24,500,000 and he said, oh, okay.”
