District rolls out cell-phone guidance; board awaits state interpretation in January

"So far for the first three days, we haven't had any major disruptions," Dr. Lee reported, adding that administrators had asked scenario questions about enforcement and that the district provided guidance to avoid forcible removal of devices.
Board members discussed timing and enforcement. Several members said the state Department of Education is expected to provide an interpretation in January that may require stricter limits (for example, restricting student access during the school day rather than only during instructional time). Staff said they will monitor discipline data and return with adjustments if needed.
