Organizer, library and mayor highlight 10th annual Tennessee Poetry Day at Williamson County Public Library

Organizers opened the 10th annual Tennessee Poetry Day at the Williamson County Public Library with awards, community acknowledgements and an invitation for residents to use free library cards as part of National Library Week.
Jeffy Nicholson, adult services manager at the Williamson County Public Library, opened the program and invited attendees to use library services and get free library cards for Williamson County addresses. “This week is National Library Week,” Nicholson said, noting local businesses partnering with the library to offer discounts to cardholders.
Dr. Vera, the event founder and lead organizer for Poets from the Neighborhood, followed with remarks about the program’s decade of work and thanked longtime contributors. The program included a sequence of awards named on stage — including a Lifetime Excellence Award presented in honor of Mayor Rogers Anderson — and a schedule of afternoon readings, a Pressbooks workshop and a presentation on distribution from IngramSpark. Organizers said the program would be recorded for Williamson County TV and posted online for later viewing.
