The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners adopted three separate resolutions Dec. 17 honoring longtime county servants.
The board read and adopted a resolution recognizing Brenda Sanford for more than 26 years of service in the prosecutor's office, noting she began as an assistant prosecutor in March 1998 and was elected prosecutor in 2021. Brenda Sanford addressed the board, saying, "an honor serving my home community and dealing with you guys," and thanked colleagues for the recognition.
Later the board adopted a resolution for Todd Hillman recognizing more than 21 years of public service in emergency management. Chuck Barker, the state emergency management coordinator for Region 3, spoke in support and recounted shared emergency responses, saying he had "met Todd right down here at the office with a truckload of supplies" during the pandemic and praised Hillman's steady leadership. The board also adopted a resolution recognizing John Kinnear for decades of township and community service.
All three resolutions passed on roll-call votes recorded in the meeting minutes. Commissioners used the remarks to note the breadth of volunteer and elected service across local government.
