Zoning board approves Granite City Electric branch in Hooksett (units F,G,H)

The Hooksett Zoning Board of Adjustment approved Granite City Electric's application for a special exception to permit commercial use in an industrial district for units F, G and H at 35 Londonderry Turnpike.
John Martel, the company's regional operations manager, told the board it's a "branch" and a small warehouse where "electricians can come in and, you know, order supplies" and said the Hooksett satellite will be about "6,000" square feet with "3 to 5" employees. Martel emphasized there would be no hazardous materials stored on site: "No. It's all wire. It's just all wire and electrical fixes."
Board member Matt St. Pierre read the special-exception criteria into the record and recommended approval, citing the site's mixed commercial/industrial character and the applicant's plans to limit large deliveries to trucks owned by the company. After a second, the board voted to approve application Z25-12 for units F, G and H; the chair welcomed the company's planned investment in Hooksett.
Conditions discussed during deliberations included confirming the exact unit designation (F, G and H), ensuring adequate on-site parking and that no hazardous materials be stored. The board instructed staff to record the condition that the approval apply to the specified units and to update the file.
