At its March 24 meeting the Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed a rezoning request from UCR Management, LLC for property at 158 American Way (Tax Parcel No. 0821-29-010/11.00). Warren Miconi spoke for the applicant and said the C-2 portion of the site would be rezoned to I-2 Heavy Industrial to market the entire parcel to industrial tenants.
Commissioners expressed concern that expanding I-2 industrial zoning would conflict with the City's Comprehensive Plan. Applicant proposed maintaining a 50-foot buffer adjacent to neighboring properties but the Commission unanimously recommended denial to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. The motion to recommend denial was made by Commissioner Kayce Saik and seconded by Commissioner Phillips King.
The minutes record the Commission's action as a recommendation to deny; any change in zoning would require action by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
