Local watchdog group warns it may file complaint over Rock the Hills records

Representatives of the Checks and Balances group told the Lead City Commission on July 20 that they obtained documents from City Hall related to expenses for the Rock the Hills Concert and the Vintage Baseball Game and will analyze them at a meeting on July 21.
Deb Fischer read a letter submitted to the commission describing the group's request for expense records. Pam Millard said the group will create a spreadsheet to verify documents; she stated that "if any documents are unaccounted for, they will be coming back to the city and asking for a denial letter. If they do not receive a denial letter, they will be reporting these things to the state of South Dakota and will be filing a complaint against the city for not complying with the claims the citizens have asked for." The group said it may then decide to pursue the matter itself or obtain legal counsel. The commission took no immediate action at the meeting as recorded in the minutes.
