District sees year-to-year rise in water use; major well remains offline

Operations Manager Matt Brooks told the Board that October 2024 consumption increased more than 20% compared with October 2023, and that a 10-month average shows 2024 consumption is up 5.5% versus the same period in 2023.
Brooks explained that 2023 had lower consumption due to cooler weather and greater precipitation; this year is tracking with long-term historical data. He reported operational changes affecting supplies: production from lake draw is down because of continued blending with CLAWA source water (CLAWA #2 had been shut off as of last month), and wells-to-system deliveries are reduced primarily because Well #5 — the district's largest producing well — is out of service. Well #6 is also offline with motor and electrical issues attributed to power interruptions around the July 4 holiday weekend.
