Residents press board to remove damaged trees and debris near homes

At the public comment portion of the Heritage Pines meeting, residents raised two separate but related concerns about trees and debris on CDD property.
Tom Martin asked about plans for Rolling Hills Loop and said a dead tree near 18906 Rolling Hills Loop has been present for two or three years and "needs to be removed" because it is an eyesore; Chair Kathleen Lonergan asked for the exact location and said the District Engineer must determine whether material inside the wetland can be removed. Don Brothers said the tree behind 11453 Heritage Point Drive is an invasive species, damaged by recent hurricanes, and reported a debris pile left by a previous owner; Supervisor Stephen Putman inspected and photographed the site and characterized the tree as "a hazard that might land on nearby homes during a hurricane, if it is not removed." The board pointed to agenda item 5 for further action and approved targeted removal and stump grinding at one site.
