Heritage Pines board approves $19,200 pond-algae contract with Premier Lakes

The Heritage Pines Community Development District Board voted Oct. 15 to hire Premier Lakes, Inc. for pond algae treatment at a cost of $19,200 a year. District Manager Chuck Adams presented the proposal, saying it represents "an overall cost saving of $3,200 per year when compared to the SOLitude contract."
Adams described the treatment and addressed a resident question about chemicals, stating that "a copper-based product is used to target algae. The odor is a product of the degasification of the algae, which lasts a couple of days." On a motion by Supervisor Michael Walsh, seconded by Carol Vaughan, and with all in favor, the Board approved the Premier Lakes proposal. Adams said he would initiate SOLitude's 30-day termination to end services on Nov. 30, 2024 and that Premier Lakes would commence service on Dec. 1, 2024.
Board members and residents raised operational questions about pond access and specific pond treatments; Adams said the Premier Lakes report will include more detailed pond-level information. The contract award was recorded in the meeting minutes and will be reflected in vendor transition actions and the Board's to-do list.
