Mayor Steve Easom and the Board of Trustees approved a one-year revocable permit on April 21 allowing Knocking Turtle Village & Venue at 12571 US HWY 77 to sell wine and beer at special events.
Hope Shaw, representing Knocking Turtle Village & Venue, said the change would give the venue more control over alcohol at events and keep “that income/taxes in Slaughterville.” The Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval; the Board motioned to approve with Easom moving and Brad Luby seconding. The vote recorded Easom, Luby, Snellbaker and Rousey as voting yea and no opposing votes were recorded.
The permit was issued as a revocable, one-year authorization that the board said will be subject to review before renewal. The action follows the public hearing process required for the requested change in how alcohol is provided at special events.
