Facilities staff briefed the board on summer maintenance work across district campuses, saying crews have completed deep cleaning at High Desert School and Little Owls and started asphalt, flooring and roof projects at various sites. "We completed the deep cleaning at High Desert School and Little Owls," staff reported, and noted painting work at High Desert is finished.
Staff said the district plans to remove several medians with an estimated removal cost of $1,350 and intends to patch and slurry the effected areas. The presentation included savings figures: $2,223 saved at the district office and an estimated $19,000 saved on High Desert painting by contracting through Edge House; parts replacement for Little Owls was listed at $3,778 with a total figure of $25,001 for certain replacement work.
Separately, staff said the district purchased a storage container for Vasquez and other sites for future secure storage tied to a new Air Force JROTC program at Baskets High School. The container was estimated at $9,000; staff stated the purchase falls within procurement thresholds so additional board approval was not required. Board members supported coordinating the upcoming site walk-through with principals and the athletic director.
