County signs UDOT state-aid agreement to advance Historic Orchard Pathway

Box Elder County commissioners unanimously approved UDOT state-aid Agreement 2619 to advance the Historic Orchard Pathway project. Scott Lyons, representing the county’s Community Development Department, described the agreement as the mechanism to fund final design and construction.
Lyons said the funding split is 80% cash from UDOT and a 20% combined soft match from the county and Willard City, with Willard contributing right-of-way value and the county contributing the value of an easement across UTA property. “The county and Willard City are combining to contribute a 20% match. UDOT is coming up with the 80% match,” Lyons said. Commissioners said approving the agreement would allow the county to begin the engineering and design phases.
The motion to approve was made by Commissioner Perry and seconded by Commissioner Bingham; the board voted aye with no opposition.
