Town Clerk/Treasurer Patti McClure reported the town attorney advised the Select Board not to adopt a local Green Burial Policy. Instead, the attorney recommended the town adopt a filing process for residents who choose to be buried on private property that requires compliance with state law, a signed acknowledgement and a detailed, recorded map of the burial site; Patti said she will prepare proposed language for the next meeting.
Separately, the board discussed Act 181 and agreed to submit a letter to state legislators requesting repeal; Patti McClure will draft the letter and have Select Board members sign it. No further detail about the content of the repeal request was recorded in the minutes.
