Azusa students notch consecutive wins in Congressional Art and multiple CIF qualifications

In his address, Superintendent Arturo Ortega highlighted continued student success in arts and athletics. He said Azusa High art students have "continued their unprecedented winning streak at the Congressional Art Competition, with 1 of our students securing 1st place for the 5th consecutive year."
Ortega also listed athletic achievements: Girls Flag Football, Tennis, and Volleyball teams, boys basketball, and individual qualifiers in badminton, wrestling, swimming and track all reached CIF playoffs or qualifiers, and the girls soccer team reached the CIF championship game. Ortega described the achievements as evidence of broad extracurricular engagement across the district.
District leaders framed arts and athletics as complementary elements of student development and pointed to middle- and elementary-level programs that support a pipeline into high-school competition and performance arts.
