Sutton Selectboard to review 2026 Town Road and Bridge Standards ahead of adoption for FEMA eligibility

The Sutton Selectboard reviewed an updated Town Road and Bridge Standards manual dated 2026 during a special meeting March 11, 2026, with Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) representative Logan Perron present. Perron said the newest edition contains modest changes from the 2019 version and must be signed and adopted for the town to remain eligible for FEMA reimbursement.
"This new version needs to be signed and adopted for any future FEMA reimbursement," Perron said. He handed the board the latest document and asked the Selectboard to take it up for formal adoption at the March 26, 2026 meeting. Town Clerk Patti McClure received the manual to place on the next agenda.
Perron and board members discussed procedural implications: the 2026 manual removes appendix forms from the printed 'Orange Book' and replaces them with online links so appendices can be updated without republishing the full book. That change is intended to simplify future updates and ensure the town's procedures remain aligned with state and federal reimbursement requirements.
No formal vote on the standards occurred at the March 11 session; the board approved the town meeting minutes and adjourned. The adoption vote is scheduled for the March 26 Selectboard meeting.
