Board adopts Diamond Maps system to update water-service mapping

Jordan Fure and Leitzinger described Diamond Maps, an electronic mapping system Bloomington staff have trialed. Leitzinger said the tool allowed him to correct locations such as a Sixth Street water main that old prints showed on the south side but that GPS showed on the north side; he said Diamond Maps helps pinpoint curb stops and valves for future maintenance.
The system costs $20 per month for a single user or $28 per month for unlimited users. Jordan noted Delta 3 will perform additional verification and updates at an estimated cost of $1,500-$2,000. The board voted to proceed with Diamond Maps and approved Delta 3 to complete the verification work once the mapping system is established.
