Police report details barking-dog enforcement, camping at park and junk-cleanup deadlines

Officer Small told the Board there have been three complaints since the last meeting about barking dogs on 4th Street. The resident with multiple dogs was warned that failure to reduce the number of animals to five by Sept. 1, 2025 could lead to daily citations and an administrative warrant to seize and rehome dogs at the owner’s expense; Officer Small said the resident was cooperative.
Officer Small also reported enforcement activity on nuisance properties and that most were given a Sept. 1, 2025 deadline to comply. A junked vehicle on Wall Street was removed and another vehicle is pending registration. After a softball tournament, an out-of-state group from Iowa camped at Community Park; because of intoxication levels they were not removed that night but were advised to apply for a Special Use Permit for future events and left the area clean with no complaints. Officer Small noted the department has new uniforms, a new police phone number, business cards ordered, and suggested a future committee meeting to plan police equipment to allow traffic enforcement.
