Trustees approve several maintenance projects: pump purchase, pavilion roof, sewer inspection and security cameras

Trustees approved multiple maintenance and infrastructure actions at the Sept. 2 meeting. The wastewater plant's Stenner chemical pump lacked replacement parts; after reviewing three quotes (USA Blue Book $1,277.18; J&R $1,260.00; Hawkins Inc. $925.00 with optional installation), the board voted to buy the Hawkins pump for $925. Trustee Al Mergen moved the purchase; Trustee Chasity Allen seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The board also awarded the ballpark pavilion roof project to John Klein for $7,780 (bid compared with $10,850 from Platte River Carpentry). Clerk Shawna Atterbury noted $7,126.50 remained in the ballpark light fund that could be applied toward the work. Trustees authorized hiring Tom Kleiber of Shullsburg to televise the sewer main (minimum service 1,000 ft for $1,000) to identify infiltration and aging pipe issues. After reports of people taking water from the sewer plant, trustees approved purchasing solar-powered security cameras for the sewer plant at $479 plus shipping.
