Sperry lowers several speed limits, installs three-way stop at Cincinnati and 91st

Trustees voted to lower the school-zone speed limit on 103rd Street North to 25 mph (7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. when school is in session), reduce Cherokee Street from 35 to 25 mph (one no vote), and make Cincinnati and 91st Street North a three-way stop with tree trimming and extra police monitoring.
Traffic and pedestrian safety measures were a focus during the Oct. 9 Sperry meeting. Trustees approved Chief Nicholas Mahoney's recommendation to lower the speed limit on 103rd Street North to 25 miles per hour in the school zone from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on days school is in session. The same meeting approved lowering the speed limit on Cherokee Street from 35 to 25 mph; Gary Callahan cast the sole 'no' vote on that motion.
The board also approved installing stop signs and "Warning Stop Ahead" signage on Cincinnati Avenue and 91st Street North, converting the intersection to a three-way stop. Trustees requested that trees at the intersection be trimmed and that police monitor the intersection for compliance after signs are installed; the motions carried unanimously unless otherwise noted in the minutes.
