Supervisor Gorell sends regrets; County reports permitting reform and East County fire-prevention funding

Supervisor Jeff Gorell was unable to attend the Jan. 29 meeting and sent his regrets; staff reported his wife had recently undergone a medical procedure and is recovering.
MAC members were told Gorell was recently selected as Chair of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors. Staff also reported Gorell hosted a bike safety event in Thousand Oaks and that the Ventura County Board of Supervisors approved a permitting reform package intended to increase permitting efficiency and responsiveness; the package is expected to return to the Board for further consideration in March. Meeting minutes also record that "more than $650,000 was approved by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy to support fire prevention projects in East County," an allocation the minutes say will enhance wildfire resilience across affected communities.
