Rancho Simi board member announces $3 million grant for Medea Creek work; temporary easement planned

Eric Lundstrom, Rancho Simi Recreation & Park District Board Member for District 5, briefed the Oak Park MAC on ongoing and upcoming district activities.
Lundstrom summarized the district’s adopted budget calendar and said the district recently discussed a proposed temporary easement with the Ventura County Watershed Protection District for water monitoring east of Lindero Canyon Road. He said the easement term would be five years with an option to extend for an additional five years and that the Watershed Protection District would fund the initial five-year term and make collected water-quality data available to the public. Lundstrom also announced that the district had been awarded a "$3 million grant" for work along Medea Creek, funded by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and CAL FIRE.
Councilmembers thanked Lundstrom for holding finance meetings locally and asked about the timeline for Medea Creek Phase 2 work; Lundstrom said studies and reports would precede construction and that coordination is ongoing with Public Works, Watershed Protection and Friends of Oak Park. He also announced the first meeting of a new Oak Park Committee to act as a liaison between Rancho Simi and the community, scheduled for Feb. 19.
