Rancho Simi RPD announces $3M grant for Medea Creek work, new Oak Park committee

Eric Lundstrom, Rancho Simi Recreation & Park District board member for District 5, updated the Oak Park MAC on recent district activities. Lundstrom said the district recently adopted its budget calendar and discussed a temporary easement with the Ventura County Watershed Protection District for water monitoring east of Lindero Canyon Road near Rhapsody Drive; the easement is for an initial five-year term with an option to extend another five years and Watershed will fund the initial term.
Lundstrom also announced a combined $3 million grant from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and CAL FIRE to support work along Medea Creek. He described ongoing coordination among Rancho Simi, Public Works, Watershed Protection, and Friends of Oak Park for Medea Creek planning, and said a new Oak Park Committee will meet beginning Feb. 19 to serve as a bridge between the district and community. Lundstrom invited MAC liaison participation and thanked volunteers for recent MLK Day of Service projects. "Data collected will be made available to the public to assess water quality conditions," he said.
