Board forwards updated utility ordinance after identifying incorrect sewer rates

The Village Board voted on Oct. 6 to forward an updated utility ordinance — including water and sewer schedules — to Attorney Wood for final adjustments after Clerk Atterbury identified rate discrepancies in the draft. At a meeting briefing, Atterbury said the draft listed a fixed sewer quarterly charge of $36 and a volume rate of $3.60 per thousand gallons, while the village currently charges $61.58 and $6.73 per thousand gallons, respectively.
President Robert McLimans told trustees he contacted Delta 3 and Johnson Block and learned the Public Service Commission–approved water tariff already includes a "water lateral installation charge," which permits charging customers for the actual cost of installing a lateral if those costs are not otherwise recovered and as provided under Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 66. The board approved forwarding the ordinance for legal review; the board directed McLimans and Clerk Atterbury to confer with Mr. Hoppman at Delta 3 to reconcile rates before final approval.
