Village President Robert McLimans presented a police report from Chief Small at the Oct. 6 Village of Bloomington board meeting while the chief was at K-9 training. The report logged three fraud reports in September (unauthorized bank transactions, altered checks, and an attempted phone fraud with no loss) and multiple business security checks.
McLimans said the department has deployed a temporary speed trailer for a Mill Street speed study and that data from a sign logging speeds in both directions will be presented at the November board meeting. He also relayed Chief Small's request that citizens use the department phone number 563-341-7699 rather than the chief's personal number.
The board also agreed to revisit a possible chicken ordinance at the November meeting. McLimans said he had information from the Village of Montfort limiting ownership to hens, requiring an application and charging an annual license fee "similar to dog licenses." The discussion was preliminary and no ordinance language or fee structure was adopted at the meeting.
