The Fremont City Council authorized the mayor to sign contracts with artists to install sculptures in the Fremont sculpture walk, a Creative District program supported by Nebraska Arts Council development funds. Grant coordinator Angie Olsen said the city initially was accepted for four sculptures but secured ten for 2026.
"Initially, we were accepted to receive 4 sculptures in Fremont, but we were able to secure 10 for 2026," Olsen said, and staff noted contracts will pay artists $1,000 per sculpture. Councilmembers expressed enthusiasm for the program and voted 7'to'0 to authorize the mayor to sign the agreements.
