District reports Anti‑Bias staff training and two Attendance Academies with 74 students served

Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Robert Skaza updated the School Committee on Nov. 10 about recent professional development and attendance interventions. He said the Nov. 4 PD included a morning Anti‑Bias/Anti‑Racism (ABAR) session for all faculty and afternoon choice sessions aligned to district roadmap priorities. The Joint PD Committee will meet Nov. 13 to plan the next PD day on Jan. 20.
Skaza also reported that two Saturday Attendance Academies at Whitcomb School were held, with 32 students attending the first session and 42 attending the second. School counselors met with students to discuss root causes of absences while teachers helped students complete enough work to be passing their classes.
