County approves unpaid maternity leave accommodation, accepts jailer resignation and approves internal promotion

County Coordinator Kelly Thongvivong reported that an employee expecting to take maternity leave in September does not qualify for FMLA due to length of employment. The board unanimously approved allowing unpaid time off for up to 12 weeks and required the employee to pay her share of insurance during the absence (motion by Commissioner Larry Anderson; second by Commissioner Donna Gravley).
The board accepted the resignation of full‑time Jailer/Dispatcher Kyle Hansen effective Sept. 12, 2024, with appropriate payout of benefits (motion by Commissioner Kevin Stevens; second by Commissioner Tom Appel). The board also approved internal posting for the full-time Jailer/Dispatcher position (motion by Commissioner Donna Gravley; second by Commissioner Larry Anderson) and approved internal promotion of Destiny Olson from part‑time Jailer/Dispatcher to full‑time Deputy Sheriff contingent upon favorable background and psychological testing at a Start of Range 18 rate of $29.36/hour.
