Nadya Bucklin, SRDC representative, updated the Cottonwood County Board on the Southwest Minnesota Regional Trails Plan, saying the SRDC began a two-year planning process in the Fall of 2022 that covered nine counties. Bucklin said the planning relied on four elements: focus groups and interviews, regional corridor scoring, trail counts and trail-user spending to shape recommendations.
The briefing provided the board with planning context but did not include a specific county action item. Bucklin’s summary was presented during the regular meeting on Sept. 17, 2024. The board received the update and did not take separate formal action on the plan at this meeting.
